WORD OF THE YEAR

2022 Word of The Year
Each January, I choose a word to guide me in the year ahead.  A word that represents a theme for life, an anchor I can return to throughout the year.  Choosing a word for the year can be a simple reminder to guide your intentions, decisions, and focus.  Your word can represent what you want to invite into your life, how you want to show-up and be in the world, and/or what you want to give back in the way of contribution and connection with others.  Some years, arriving to my word is quick and obvious, right there in front of me waiting to be claimed.  Other times, it’s as if a word chooses me.  Challenging me right out of the gate, bringing unexpected perspective as the year unfolds and reveals what it's here to teach.

Choosing one word to guide you throughout the year can be a simple yet significant practice.  It can help bring clarity and deeper meaning to the nuances of everyday life.  As I look back on the past decade of words I’ve chosen, it tells a story.  A patchwork of words threaded and quilted together representing my growth.  I invite you to think about your word, a theme that will represent your vision for 2022.

This year, my word for the year is Still A reminder for me to pause inside the passing of everyday life.  To stay in the quiet of stillness  a little longer (if even just for a moment) each day, free from expectation and/or anticipation of any outcome. Permission for my mind to be free from judgement of thinking and feeling, planning, and doing, learning, reacting, and responding to all the things.  This will be a challenge for me and I’m here for it.

If on January 1st, 2023, you and I are looking back and celebrating your growth and success from the year, what one word would best describe what got you here?

What do you want to remember along the way?

What will be a lighthouse for you, a return to shore when you find yourself off the path?

In case you need to hear it, don’t overthink it, let the discovery of your word be fun and creative!  It's not about finding the perfect word, it's about finding one that speaks loudest to you, your heart, and your life right now.  Set aside time to begin by answering the three questions from above, see what comes up.  Look for a theme that threads through all the buckets of your life—personal, professional, health, spiritual, relationships, family, and friends.  What is your word for the year?  If you claim one, reply and let me know, I’d love to hear what you've chosen!  Stay open, brave, and on-purpose.
