5 SIGNS SOMEONE IS GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

I forgot how busy May and June get around our house.  Baseball season, dance season, end of school field trips, concerts, all the things as we anticipate the end of another school year.

Summer is just around the corner, and I don’t want May to pass without acknowledging it’s Mental Health Awareness month.  In my book, every month is a good month to be mindful of mental health.  A couple months ago, Ava shared with me the top five signs that someone is good for her mental health.  I think they are fantastic for all of us to keep in mind when we consider the company we keep! (I added my own thoughts in italics).

You feel supported, seen, heard, and appreciated.
You feel validated and valued.  They hold space for you wherever you are in the present moment with openness, love, and curiosity.

You feel safe to be vulnerable around them.
Regardless of the weather, they are with you.  They celebrate when you win and sit beside you in your struggle.

You can be your true self when you’re with them.
They can appreciate and accept all the parts of you.

They don’t compare your problems to theirs.
They choose connection over comparison, every time.

They uplift and support you, not bring you down.
There’s something special about their presence and energy that leaves you feeling better than before.

Who in your life is good for your mental health?  Tell them, thank them.  Who isn’t so helpful?  What boundary do you need to have in place to protect your peace? Take care of you and as always, stay open, brave, and
on-purpose.
