UNLOCK SELF-COMPASSION, CLARITY, AND MOMENTUM

Hello and welcome back!  This week, I find myself contemplating several recent conversations that initially seemed centered on productivity but, in truth, revolved around the concept of being present while making progress.

Sometimes when we feel unmotivated or feel like we aren’t doing enough it’s because we are stuck in a story.  Stuck in over thinking about what we did or didn’t do or what we could be doing better.  Over focusing on failings or shortcomings can lead to all kinds of unhealthy patterns of comparison and self-sabotage–you will find what you are looking for.  We are our worst critic and not so great at objectively assessing our progress.  Sometimes we need a little help zooming out to look back at how far we have come to help gain steam moving forward.  As I write this email, I’m realizing we have 98 days left in 2023–plenty of time my friends.

This week, I am sharing a simple and effective strategy that helped my client quiet her inner critic and develop self compassion, clarity, and momentum.  I invite you to join her in creating what I call your Evidence Journal.  All you need is a few quiet minutes to yourself, a blank piece of paper and your favorite pen.

Excavating Evidence for your journal:
This is a brain dump.  When you look back over the past 30, 60, 90 days, where have you been spending your time and energy? Make a list of the big and small, the old and new of where you've been and what you’ve done.  Grab your calendar to refresh your memory.  What have you accomplished?  Who have you supported?  What projects have you progressed forward?  Where (and to whom) have you given your time and energy?  Get granular.  Sit with your list for a moment, let it sink in.  Acknowledge your impact.  You’re doing more than you think!

Too often we blaze by the “in process” parts, our progress along the way gets overlooked because we are so focused on the finish line.  Life is not a race my friend.  I invite you to let this simple practice be the powerful reminder you need to rest, celebrate, and recalibrate.  Be kind to you and as always, stay open, brave, and on-purpose.
