Welcome back! Are you making time for creativity? Creativity has been at the forefront of many conversations lately and I have some thoughts I want to share with you.
What does it mean to be creative? Creativity transcends beyond traditional rules, patterns, and ideas, it requires imagination. I believe a mindset of creativity is one that is open, curious, and adventurous. It’s one of the most vulnerable states to be in and it’s powerful! I believe creativity gets us closer to living a life of congruency. How? The outcome of a creative endeavor is unpredictable, there are infinite possibilities. Creativity, free of mimicry or comparison, invites innovation. When we are in discovery mode, unattached to a formula or particular outcome, we are open to learn something new. When I’m exercising creativity, I often feel I'm returning to my truest self and discovering new truths about what’s possible.
Creativity can come through the most unlikely places. You don’t need to be a musician, a writer, or a painter, you can seek creativity based on the simple evaluation—does this light me up, do I lose myself or time here (in the best way possible), have I left the magic of my interpretation and imprint here? If the answer is yes then I'd say you're on the path to experiencing more creativity.
You can express creativity in a million ways from getting dressed in the morning to devoting time to a hobby you love, find yours. I believe learning from the openness and curiosity of creativity can better equip us to handle uncertainty that comes our way. Creative expression invites a playful lightness to life, embraces surprise for something new to come in, and frees us to let go of all the knowing. This week, make time for creativity, allow for that one thing to take you on an adventure.
