WANT TO SAVOR YOUR EXPERIENCES AND SERVE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS THIS SUMMER? START WITH THIS...

Do you ever come back from a vacation or weekend away and feel like you need another one? Or maybe you look through old photos and think, "Wow, that was such a great time! If I could do it all over again, I'd savor and appreciate it even more." Me too.

New places and new experiences can be overwhelming, requiring a different level of attention and energy compared to a “staycation” (which are SO underrated btw). Sometimes we try to pack too much into a single trip—both literally and metaphorically expecting it to fulfill all our needs. Or, we forget to ask ourselves what we truly need from our time away from our regular routine and life.

Before that family vacation, or much-anticipated trip with your BFF, here’s a simple but powerful question to ask, answer, and share with each other:

What are you most looking forward to?

In other words, how will we know you’re in your place of peace and joy so we can celebrate it and best support and protect that time for you? Be specific!

“Omg, I can’t WAIT to hit the lounge chair with a blanket and book and watch the sunrise!”

“A few random (uninterrupted) afternoon naps in the sun are calling my name!

“If you can’t find me, I’ll be exploring and checking out all the local spots, hidden gems, and great places to eat.”

What do you most look forward to when you get time away from regular life and routine?

Answering this question and sharing it with your people:
  • Signals purpose and presence, deepening the meaning and memory of the experience.
  • Supports a balance between conscious connection and rejuvenating solitude.
  • Strengthens the relationship by helping you understand what each of you needs from your time away and together.
Summer is a short season, seeming to pass quicker each year. How do you plan to make the most of these warmer days and longer evenings? A little intention goes a long way--we get what we ask for. Start that group text--this one simple question will be a fun way to share and ignite the excitement of anticipation for what’s ahead! As always, stay open, brave, and on-purpose.

P.S. Parents, try this with your kiddos too! You'll find they enjoy and appreciate getting clear on what they need, and it will help them better support what you need too!
