40 WISHES FOR YOU.

It's Mother's Day weekend!  Mothering has been, hands down, the most challenging and deeply rewarding work of my life.  I've been a little more quiet and less frequent on here lately because I'm working through one of the toughest seasons of mothering right now (more on this topic at a later time).  This week, I'm reminded of one of the many reasons I write--to document perspective.  To remind myself, to reread so I can remember when I need it most.   I want to share a repost, something I wrote for my kids on my 40th birthday five years ago now.
I wrote it for us too.

40 Wishes For You:
Choose courage over comfort.
Your ability to be resilient will be everything.
Live and love with a long-term perspective in mind.
Humility is brave and beautiful.
Make self-care a priority.
Forgiveness will set you free.
Self-compassion, first.  You can't give what you don't have.
Find the humor in everything.
Be flexible.
Make time to do things you love.
There’s freedom on the other side of acceptance.
Focus on using your greatest strengths.

Create and make something (big or small) every single day.
Give people what they need, not what they deserve.

Wherever you find yourself this week, trust it--you are stronger than you think. Our big breakthroughs and deep growth don't come from the easy seasons of life.  The good stuff that stays with you forever is on the other side of what is challenging you most right now.  This is what building resilience feels like, lean in and lead with love.

Stay open, brave, and on-purpose.
